Personal Experience in Theatre

I have been involved with theatre for a long time. In high school, I realy grew to love it. Before then, I did a few plays here and there, but mainly just because my sisters would do it with me.

I personally value the time that I spent in public schools being a part of something. I did sports as well as theatre, and was involved in student leadership. All of these aspects of my education where important to me. However, theatre sticks out in my mind as a way that I truly learned abouut myself.

In theatre, you are asked to reach outside your comfort zone, and to practice for horus and hours, memorize, perform, and then, after one weekend, it's done. So why is it valuable?

It is because of what the students get out of it. They get lifelong friends, a sence of self worth, a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves, and a rush and thrill of a live performance. Technical student have similar feelings. All students involved learn about responsibility, and time managment. I personally learned and developed all of those attributes during my experience in theatre.
